Once upon a time at Big Texas, Cody Johnson played a show for 50 people on a Thursday night. Josh Ward played here at least 20 times over 12 years before he had a sold out show in January of 2018. The Eli Young Band played for less than 200 people in October of 2006. Aaron Watson and Wade Bowen played here on Wednesday nights before Wild on Wednesday was a thing.
All artists have a beginning. Those of us who can say we saw them on the way up tend to beam with pride when we talk about how we were there before everyone else caught on. It makes us feel like we were the innovators and that we were right about where they were headed.
The Big Texas Next Up shows are a chance for you to come see these new and up and coming artists. It's your chance to be able to say, "I saw them back when barely anyone knew who they were."
Free tickets are typically available at Big Texas in the days and weeks leading up to the show. To get them online is cheap - in the $5 range. We want to make it easy for those of us that love live music to be able to come out and see these bands. So keep checking back so you can make it a point to see who is going to be NEXT UP!
